Maybe it's just me, but I don't get the whole fixie thing. I understand the basic concept of building up a cheap bike to commute around on, but why build the bike up so un-safe/rediculous to ride. AND what's with the messenger bags filled with crumpled-up newspaper to make it appear you are actually "messenger'ing" something.

It's just like $200 jeans-there is no logic involved.
