"how about the silo..."

The silo ride, what is it?  NW12th & Little Salt.  Looks like someone bought this former missile site & lives here?, there's a horse roaming around behind the gate. Ordnance depot?  I'll have to look into this...
wow! standing water. NW33rd & Waverly, haven't seen much of that around here...

Later,

That's an old Nike Missile site. There's another one just like it south of Highway 33 on the way to Crete. Sort of near where that "community" of old government buildings are right on the north side of 33. I think these were non-nuke anti-aircraft.

There's an old Altas silo a few hundred feet north of the MoPac about 3 miles east of Eagle. This is one of the big underground complexes with living quarters, etc. that housed the big nukes aimed for Russia. There's another right off Hwy 2 down near Palmyra.

If you know where to look, there are plenty remnants of the Cold War around Lincoln.

Thanks CD!

If you know of any web sites that have the history or maps of the sites please let me know, I smell a tour of the cold war coming on...

Later man.

Check out siloworld.com....lots of stuff there. There's even photos of somebody's recent adventure into the interior of an Atlas silo near Beatrice.

What's crazy is the number of Minuteman silos out in the western part of the state near Kimball. They're all over the place out there, along with southeast Wyoming and northeast CO. Next time you head to Ft. Collins, take 76 to Sterling and then 14 west. Keep your eyes open - Minutemans are everywhere along 14. Minutemans were still active 10 years ago or less.
