former mule capitol...

Lathrop, home of the mules. 86 miles in 88 degree temps with the dew point in the upper 80's/low 90's. This formula fried my soul. At the 31 mile checkpoint I was raining sweat. At the 52 mile convenience store pit stop I had a pretty good headache, my stomach was complaining, & my ears were ringing. I usually don't suffer this much in the heat & humidity but for some reason it was my day. Seriously considered rolling the highway back to the start/finish but forced down a ton of fluids & rebounded enough to get my ass back on course.

Thanks Joe Fox & family for a great event, great vibe, a great course. I remember thinking why isn't this course a hundee? During the event I was repeatedly grateful it wasn't, it's plenty difficult. Often you can thank the county road crews for their generous application of white rock.
31 mile refuel...
